MIU — Design System

Challenge

The Ukrainian government initiated the process of service digitisation. During that time the Ministry of Internal Affairs already had a website, however, it was tailored for different purposes and didn’t comply with current needs. So it was decided to ditch the idea of a soft facelift and build a new portal version from the ground up.

Goal

  • Create an accessible design system
  • Introduce consistency and usability
  • Make the system reusable for other MIU entities
  • Development of the universal landing page template for special events and promotions

Approach

  • Research
  • Interviews with the product owner and developers
  • Development of the informational architecture
  • Wireframes and prototypes
  • The mobile-first design and desktop version

Result

Incorporating accessibility into the planning phase of development makes implementation easy. However, since it was the development team's first project with a primary focus on accessibility, they were initially hesitant. As a result, I decided to provide a workshop. The team appreciated these practices, and subsequent work progressed smoothly.
